About this site
Origin
I created this website mainly due to a lack of learning material for Taiwanese Hokkien.
Data is collected from the MOE Dictionary of Common Taiwanese Hokkien, a free dictionary made by the Taiwanese Ministry of Education, using a web scraper to search from vocabulary lists in Node JS. Vocabulary lists come from various free resources around the web.
As the dictionary does not currently offer English search, Mandarin Chinese is used (meaning most of the interface needs to be in Chinese)
This website is fairly new and I do not have a lot of spare time for upkeep so there are still a lot of small issues.
Open source
This project is open source, if you have an idea for a feature feel free to get in touch. If you want to use this project as a base to create something else, feel free. Some attribution somewhere in your project would be great.
About me (the author)
I'm a web developer who spent about 14 years living in Asia. After learning Mandarin Chinese and Japanese to a high level. I noticed a lack of materials and language promotion for Taiwanese Hokkien, especially for common vocabulary lists and so created this site.
